DELF-DALF

Diplôme d’études en langue française et Diplôme approfondi de langue française

Update May 21, 2020

Alliance Française Halifax is among the few accredited examination centers for tests and diplomas certified by the French government and internationally recognized in Nova-Scotia.

What are the DELF and DALF diplomas?

The DELF (Diplôme d’Études en Langue Française) and the DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) are official diplomas awarded by the French National Ministry of Education to certify the competency of candidates from outside of France in the French language. The DELF and DALF qualifications are under the authority of the CIEP (Centre International d’Études Pédagogiques).

The DELF and the DALF are composed of six independent diplomas corresponding to the six levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL).

The DELF and DALF diplomas are independent, so candidates register directly for the examination of their choice. At each level, four skills are evaluated: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
